Privacy Policy
NephX is a private platform for the Indian nephrology community. This page explains in plain language what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. This is a preview document; the legally binding version will be finalised at public launch.
1. Who runs NephX
NephX is a project led by Dr. Vel Arvind and Dr. Rajarajan, built for the Indian nephrology community. There are no advertisers and no third parties with marketing access to your data.
2. What we collect
- Account info — your phone number (for sign-in), display name, and (optional) profile photo.
- Messages and media — the case discussions, threads, images, DICOM scans, and documents you share within NephX.
- Device tokens — push notification identifiers so we can alert you to new messages and incoming calls.
- Operational logs — minimal technical logs (errors, crash reports) used to keep the platform reliable.
3. What we do with it
- Deliver messages, calls, and notifications between members.
- Maintain the searchable academic archive that the community builds together.
- Keep the service running, debug issues, and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data. We do not show advertising. We do not share content with third parties for marketing.
4. Patient data
NephX is for peer academic discussion. Members are responsible for de-identifying any patient information before posting (no names, MRNs, or other personally identifying details on uploaded images or in case text). NephX is not a medical device and is not intended for primary clinical record-keeping.
5. Where data lives
NephX runs on Google Firebase infrastructure in the asia-south1
(Mumbai) region. Media files are stored in Google Cloud Storage. Live calls
are routed through LiveKit Cloud.
6. Your choices
- Edit or remove your profile information at any time from the in-app settings.
- Delete your account — this removes your profile and personal data; community discussions you contributed to may remain in the archive in de-identified form.
- Email [email protected] for data access or deletion requests.
7. Children
NephX is intended for qualified medical professionals. It is not directed at people under 18.
8. Changes
We'll update this page when the platform changes materially. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
